JESSICA BIEL MIXES BEAUTY WITH HUMOR

You don’t have to do stand-up comedy to be considered funny, especially if you look like Jessica Biel. But beauty and comedy are usually hard to come by combined in the same person. Not in Jessica’s case! I, like many others, fell for Jessica in The Illusionist. You’ll feel the same way when you see her in Easy Virtue, her newest film with Colin Firth, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Ben Barnes. As Larita, she brings a comedic lightness to her part that just automatically draws you to her. She marries into a family where the mother-in-law, (Thomas) is a stuck-up old biddy, and hates Jessica for her warm, fun-loving personality. At the end, Jessica leaves her young “momma’s-boy” husband, (Barnes), and winds up with his Dad, (Firth) which felt just perfect to me!

Jessica says she could never do stand-up, but she played a sexy lawyer in “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” with Adam Sandler and Kevin James, and recently finished a starring role in a new comedy called “Nailed” with Jake Gyllenhaal, about a waitress who accidentally gets a nail lodged in her head causing unpredictable sexual behavior.

Sounds like an interesting premise, and adds new meaning to the phrase “she got nailed!” And with all due respect, I know plenty of guys besides Justin Timberlake who would like to “nail” her!

Anyway, until next time, remember, … COMEDY MATTERS!!!

HOLE IN THE PAPER SKY COMING TO ITUNES SOON!

SOUNDTRACK AVAILABLE NOW!
One of the coolest things about being a producer is that you get to see a film come together in bits and pieces, from the first reading of the script all the way down to the final product, and one of the most important parts of that process is the creation of the movie’s score. Bill Purple, the director of “Hole in the Paper Sky,” reached out to composer Kerry Muzzey as we began post-production on the film, and Kerry’s response was, “A movie about a dog? I’m in!” The challenge: we were all in L.A. and Kerry was in NYC. I think this is actually one of Bill Purple’s favorite stories about making this movie: he and Kerry ha d never met, did all the work by email, sent musical cues back and forth by FTP, and then met in person for the very first time at the film’s premiere.

However, the process wasn’t without its difficulties: halfway through the film’s score, Kerry lost his own dog to a very aggressive cancer. I think this is one of those situations where life informs art, though, because the score that he created for “Hole in the Paper Sky” was absolutely beautiful. The music is so poignant and moving, and added a whole new layer of emotionality to the film. We’re all really proud of the final product, and of the score as a standalone work. You can download it on iTunes at this link:

I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
